Iodine

Iodine is a micro-nutrient needed by every cell in the body. It is critical for proper brain and thyroid function. An iodine deficiency is the #1 cause of mental retardation and hypothyroidism in the world. It is required for healthy skin, hair, and nails.

There are plenty of symptoms which can indicate an iodine deficiency. Swollen thyroid, unexpected weight gain, mental retardation, poor memory, brain fog, cold feet, irregular periods, menstrual pain, constipation, allergies, cognitive impairment, dry/flaky/itchy skin, heartbeat irregularities, psoriasis, testicular cysts, fatigue, fertility issues, type 2 diabetes, depression, hair thinning, puffy face/eyes, blood pressure issues, infections, dental issues, weight gain, eye problems, hearing loss, lung conditions, and stomach problems are all indications of an iodine deficiency. Many of these every day symptoms will disappear with daily intake of iodine.

The current recommended daily intake of iodine is 150 mcg which is absolutely ridiculous. This is just enough to avoid goiter. Every cell in the body needs iodine. We recommend 50-150 mg daily. The dose should be built up gradually! It can cause quite the detox reaction if you take too much too quickly.
